Your reality is largely shaped by the beliefs that you hold. Beliefs can be compared to software that programs how you experience and relate to the environment around you. Who you are and how you relate to the world is controlled by your beliefs. In order to change yourself and your life, the place to start is with your beliefs.

The major difficulty in dealing with beliefs is that most of those that affect you are harbored in your subconscious. Many of these subconsciously held beliefs sabotage your conscious efforts to improve your life and remain beyond your conscious control and awareness, impeding you from realizing your full potential.

The subconscious is responsible for approximately 90% of a persons mental and physical functions so it makes sense to use the subconscious to create success in all areas of life. Self-hypnosis is a tool available to everyone and you can use it to penetrate the resistance to your conscious efforts and tap into the source of your own personal power. Anyone can generate the thoughts that have the power to change their lives: mentally, emotionally and physically.

Know what your objectives are before beginning any session of self-hypnosis. Your objective can be anything; losing weight, improving your health, having a better relationship or making more money. Many people who use self-hypnosis claim that even when they had concentrated their efforts on only one or two objectives that other aspects of their lives improved beyond that which they had focused their intentions.

Before starting a session, take note of your state of mind as well as your physical and emotional states. Determine how long your session will last. A session of self-hypnosis consists of four stages.

1. Induction
2. Deepening
3. Trance
4. Awakening

Induction

Induction is the intentional shifting of awareness from your normal state. Begin to relax by using deep breathing. Taking deep breaths in a rhythmic pattern will begin to relax the mind and body. Another method that can be used in the induction phase is to focus your sight on a single spot, letting your vision naturally blur and allowing the eyelids to close on their own.

Deepening

Deepening is similar to induction but extends to a deeper level of relaxation. Count down from a number of your choice until zero. Synchronize the count with your deep breathing and gradually put yourself into a deeper state of relaxation as each number is counted. There is no need to pick too high of a number: between 3 and 10 is optimal. If you prefer not to countdown, try visualizing some peaceful, beautiful location. This place could be imaginary or somewhere you have actually visited.

Trance

Trance is also known as the Auto-Suggestion phase as this is where you will be repeating to yourself a script which describes the positives changes you wish to take hold in your subconscious. This script will be something that you have written in advance. It can be as short as a few words or as long as a few paragraphs. Most importantly, the script should be written in terms of implementing positive chance and avoiding terms describing making changes to negative behaviors or circumstances. For instance, if you are trying to lose weight, repeat something such as, "I eat healthy everyday and feel fulfilled" but do not repeat something like, "I will stop eating so much chocolate".

Once you have become more comfortable and familiar with entering into the trance phase you may decide to try making a longer, more comprehensive script to read or you can record your script to play back during this time. To enhance the effectiveness of the trance phase create the emotion within yourself of how you will feel once you have realized your objective.

For someone beginning self-hypnosis, the most asked question is "How do I know when I am in trance?" The reality is that it is different for every individual. Trance is a natural state that exists in everyone. Have you ever been driving and suddenly realized you have gone miles without being aware? Have you ever been so involved in some activity that you lost perception of time? These are examples of natural trance.

With time and experience you will recognize your own personal signals to indicate when you are in trance. Signals can be physical, emotional or mental. Below is a small list of examples of possible signals to give you an idea of what to expect.

Emotional

* Tranquility
* Euphoria
* Neutrality
* Forgiveness
* Unconditional Love
* Detachment

Mental

* Altered time perception
* Clarity
* Wisdom

Physical

* Tingling
* Warmth
* Light headed
* Floating or levitating

Awakening

The final phase of your self-hypnosis session is Awakening which simply means returning to your normal state of consciousness. Obviously, it is best to comeback gradually and not with a jolt. This can be accomplished by using the same countdown method as used in the deepening phase except with each step increasing to your normal conscious state.

The effectiveness of self-hypnosis is in balancing the intentions of the conscious with the subconscious. The conscious mind is rational and envisions the changes that you want. The subconscious is creative, intuitive and powerful. It creates a reality based on beliefs of which you are too often unaware. By using self-hypnosis, you can program your subconscious mind to work for you to create the life you desire. Results will not appear immediately but with practice and patience the results will be dramatic and well worth the effort.

Standing in line at the grocery store you start to feel your heart race. Within moments your hands are sweating, your breathing becomes short and rapid, you feel hot, dizzy and overwhelmed with a sense of fear.

What is this sensation? Where is it coming form? If you have experienced similar sensations in the past and especially if you have begun changing your life and routine in the fear of experiencing it again, you may be suffering from Panic Attacks.

What are panic attacks?

Panic is a physical reaction that is a response to stress. Often called the 'fight or flight' response, panic is a normal response to danger and is actually your body's cue to get out of harm's way. However, when panic sets in when there is no source of danger it can be linked to two causes – stress or possibly, a panic disorder.

The following symptoms are common during a panic attack:

- rapid heartbeat

- shortness of breath or inability to breath

- dizziness or nausea

- sweating, shaking or trembling

- a sense of fear or dread

- tingling sensation in the fingers or toes

- chest pain

- hot flashes or chills

- thinking you are going to die or go craz

What causes panic attacks?

Stress in our lives is not usually caused by a physical danger; in fact most stress is caused by completely normal daily activities and is not harmful to us. Too much stress, however, is dangerous to our body and in some cases it can cause panic attacks, particularly if we have experienced an additional trauma or burden such as the loss of a loved one or big change such as a new job or move. While normal stress can cause anxiety, when panic attacks become regular a panic disorder may be the cause.

Panic disorder may or may not be directly related to over stress. Some researchers are linking the panic attacks caused by panic disorder to a physical cause. If this is the case you need to seek professional help in dealing with the symptoms.

Sadly most individuals suffering from panic disorder do not get properly diagnosed. Many begin to suffer the physical and psychological effects of changing their lives, their jobs and their recreational activities to accommodate their panic attacks before finding a physician that can properly diagnose their condition. The symptoms of panic attacks may also lead a person to believe they have a dangerous physical condition and seek treatment for various unrelated diseases and conditions.

How can you stop panic attacks?

If you think you have been experiencing panic attacks you will need to be diagnosed by your physician or referred to a psychiatrist. While the physical symptoms may not be connected to a mental condition, often the fear of having panic attacks in public leads to phobias that may need to be treated as well.

A combination of medication and therapy may be used to combat the panic attacks and help a person to overcome related phobias.

The good news is that panic disorder responds very well to treatment and those who receive treatment can lead healthy, normal lives.

When was the last time you were asked to pose for a photo with a big smile in your face, showing your teeth? Lots of people are embarrassed to show their teeth in public for the simple reason that they are not as white as they should be. If you suffer from this problem, you know it's humiliating and you try to hide them as much as you can.

What's the #1 Reason People Are Ashamed of Their Teeth?

Modern life can really make your teeth pay a stiff price. Drinking coffee, smoking, and eating those sweets you love so much can stain your teeth, no doubt about it. Age has something to do with stained teeth, too. The older you get the more enamel is lost, revealing their darker shade underneath. But your lifestyle has a lot to do with keeping that enamel from wearing out!

What can you do? Teeth whitening is the option a lot of people choose to fight stained teeth. The reports show that patients who undergo this kind of treatment increase their self-esteem. It's only natural, since this allows them to smile with no concerns.

So Many Treatments Available.

If you step into your nearest pharmacy, you'll see lots of options to choose from. But the question is, do they actually work? Or is it just another marketing scheme selling the latest teeth "miracle" product? Your best bet is to get a free trial offer for whiter teeth.

These take home kits promise to make your teeth whiter in a matter of days. It sounds great, right? However, while some are genuine and can be trusted, there are other who have serious downsides. You should know about these important points to make an educated purchase.

Some whitening kits help you remove certain types of stains but have a lack of protection for your gums. The mouthpiece that comes with the kit is placed onto your teeth with the gel inside it but the gel can go onto your gums and the guard does not really provide you protection. Result? Damage to your gums, which makes your teeth worse in the long run.

Something to take into consideration is that if you drink or are a heavy smoker, stay away from teeth whitening treatments. The reason is that a high intake of hydrogen peroxide (bleach) can make you vulnerable to adverse after-effects from the alcohol.

If you decide on doing it, the first person to consult would be your dentist. When a dentist whitens your teeth, they use protections for your gums and they control the situation by making sure things are done properly. That's what you pay them for. People doing the home treatment can get impatient and not conclude the whole procedure therefore becoming a waste of time and money in the end.

Treatments with the dentists can sometimes be done in stages where the patient takes the kit home.

The other option to achieve the desired teeth whitening results is the tooth paste. There are tooth pastes on the market that do the work and you can find them easily. However, if you're thinking that such tooth pastes are going to take care of your stains, get ready to be disappointed. These tooth pastes are abrasives, which may cause serious damage to your tooth enamel, revealing grey teeth that have to be sorted out by your dentist later on.

So the conclusion is that if you need teeth whitening your best alternative is to go to the dentist and get them fixed. Ask for prices in several dental offices if you like and decide for yourself what's the best choice. But don't waste your time and money on things that do not guarantee results.

Home teeth whitening results are simply too erratic to endorse.

Kegel exercises, named after Dr. Arnold Kegel, help to strengthen the pelvic muscles. Often recommended for women, they are becoming increasing popular for men as well.

Why Should Men Care About Them?

Kegel exercises help to strengthen the muscles that support the bladder and urethra in men. Making these muscles stronger may help to increase bladder and bowel control. They can also be helpful after a prostatectomy or urinary diversion. In addition, these little exercises can help men achieve stronger erections and help stop premature ejaculation.

What Causes Weak Pelvic Muscles?

There can be several causes including being overweight, normal aging, lack of exercise, strain on the bladder (hard coughing, sneezing and heavy lifting; straining at stool or urination), and prostate gland surgery.

How Are the Exercises Done?

First, identify the right muscles. You do not want to exercise your back, abdominal, or upper leg muscles. To identify the right muscles try the following: 1) While sitting on the toilet, try to stop the flow of urine. If you can do this, you've found the right muscles. Once you've found the right muscles, only do the Kegel exercises when you're not urinating (to prevent urinary tract infections). 2) Imagine that you're trying not to pass gas. You should feel a "pulling" sensation in your buttocks and rectum if you're using the right muscles. 3) Lie down and put one finger in your rectum. Imagine that you're trying to stop urine and BM from coming out while you tighten your muscles. The rectal muscle should tighten around your finger.

Now that you've identified the correct muscles to exercise, you're ready to get to work. Kegel exercises can be done anytime and anywhere. You want to start with an empty bladder, so take care of that first. Now, contract your pelvic floor muscles for 3 to 5 seconds; then, relax the muscles for 10 seconds. Do 10 repetitions one to three times a day. Don't be discouraged if you can only hold the contractions for a few seconds at a time, you're strength will build up. As the muscles get stronger, slowly increase the length of the contractions to a maximum of 10 seconds per contraction. For best results, do the exercises every day, but build up slowly to avoid over exercising and stressing the pelvic floor muscles, which can lead to muscle fatigue and an increased chance of incontinence. In can take from four to six weeks for you to begin to see results. In some cases, it can take three to six months to see a difference in bladder control.

How Can You Remember to Do Them?

The hardest part of adding any new exercise to your lifestyle is simply remembering to include the exercise in your daily routine. Here are some possible memory joggers to help you: 1) Try always doing the exercises at the same time each day–when you wake, after lunch, and before bedtime; 2) Keep a daily diary noting the date, time, length of contractions, and number of exercises; 3) Do Kegel exercises during each TV. ad you watch during the day; 4) Do your Kegel exercises while you ride the elevator each day–perhaps on the way down from your home in the morning and on the ride up in the evening (or the same at the office); 5) While driving, perform Kegels at the stop signs or stop lights; 6) Come up with your own unique system.

Final Reminder:

Kegel exercises can be very helpful for men as well as women, but it is important that they be done correctly and regularly to help strengthen the pelvic floor muscles.

This can be because of the psychological symptoms one experiences after quitting or nicotine addiction in which the person has become dependent on nicotine. That is why it is very difficult to suggest the best way to quit smoking. What may work with one smoker may not work with another.

However, this does not mean that a smoker cannot give up smoking. The best way to quit smoking is to choose a program that suits you specifically. Nicotine replacement therapy, also known as NRT, is one of the most effective and commonly used methods. You can also opt for counseling, emotional therapy or medication or a combination of these methods.

Much depends on how you deal with the withdrawal symptoms. For nicotine replacement therapy, the smoker is provided nicotine in low quantities in the forms of gums, patches, inhalers or nasal sprays. They reduce the craving by releasing nicotine at low levels. The dose is gradually reduced allowing the person's mind and body to accept it before completely stopping it. The success rate of NRT is high and there are relatively few people who relapse even after several years. This is why many consider NRT to be the best way to quit smoking.

An important point to remember is that you should not smoke while undergoing this therapy. It can be dangerous since the nicotine levels in the body may become very high. Nicotine gums and patches are available over the counter while the other forms of the NRT can only be taken under medical supervision.

Another form of treatment is medication. Patients are given Zyban, which is a drug made from the chemical bupropion. This drug stimulates the release of dopamine and norepinephrine in the body – two chemicals that produce feelings of pleasure similar to those experienced while smoking. The success rate of this treatment is modest, and there have been cases when patients have returned to smoking after a period of time. This makes it important for patients who took Zyban to give up smoking to keep in touch with their physicians. Zyban should be taken under medical supervision only and people who are suffering from cardiac disorders or epilepsy should not take it. It is advisable for pregnant women to avoid taking Zyban as well.

Psychological counseling also helps smokers better fight withdrawal symptoms like mood changes and anxiety. Trained professionals who may help make you emotionally stronger perform counseling. They counsel you over the advantages of not smoking. Alternative therapies such as meditation and yoga may also provide added benefits.

For some, however, the best way to quit smoking is the cold turkey method. The smoker decides one day that he is not going to smoke any longer. He stubs out the cigarette, and does not light another. This is a difficult method and requires great willpower.
